Infrastructure Russian airlines have the necessary fleet of aircraft for transportation on domestic and international lines 27.02.2023

At a meeting on economic issues with the Head of State, the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Vitaly Saveliev reported on the expected growth in passenger air traffic in the coming year.

According to the head of the Minisrty, more than 101 million people will use the services of Russian airlines. In 2022, Russian airlines transported about 95 million passengers, which is significantly inferior to the same rate in 2021. Vitaly Saveliev noted that the decrease in the number of citizens who used air transport services caused the temporary closure of 11 airports in the south of the country. At the same time, an increase in passenger traffic was noted in a number of directions. It is fixed at 22 airports, including Kamchatka. According to the press service of the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky International Airport, whose board of directors includes Marina Yakutova, General Director of the Kamchatka Development Corporation, in 2022 it provided transportation for more than 832.1 thousand people. Compared to the previous year, passenger traffic increased by 7.7 %. The number of flights also increased by 4.63%. At the international airport, aircraft of various classes made 5987 takeoffs and landings. Airlines from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky International Airport carried out transportation on 18 routes. The most popular destinations are still flights to and from Moscow. The number of passengers on the Vladivostok, Irkutsk, Novosibirsk and Khabarovsk routes has increased. Flights between the settlements of Kamchatka covered more than 38 thousand people. This year, as in the previous one, fares on local airlines for residents of the peninsula have been reduced due to subsidies from the regional budget. At a meeting with the President of the Russian Federation, Vitaly Saveliev also said that today the passenger fleet of Russian airlines includes 1,164 aircrafts. Their number will ensure the necessary volumes of transportation on domestic and international lines in 2023. Experts believe that Vitaly Savelyev's statement about a sufficient number of aircraft of domestic airlines in no way means that the government of the Russian Federation intends to adjust plans to increase the production of its own passenger airliners. The programs of the Russian aircraft industry remain relevant. Recently, Vladimir Putin demanded that the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov accelerates their implementation. Russian airlines themselves are taking measures to expand the fleet of aircraft at the expense of domestic aircraft and helicopters. Kamchatka does not stand aside from this process either. A few days ago, the Ural Works of Civil Aviation located in Yekaterinburg spread out the message about the signing of a preliminary agreement with Vityaz-Aero JSC for the supply to the Kamchatka aviation enterprise in 2026-2028 of three light multipurpose aircrafts Baikal in a configuration adapted to the climatic and aeronautical conditions of the peninsula. The layout of aircraft cabins assumes cargo and passenger transportation options.
