Sea cruise from Petropavlovsk to Ust-Bolsheretsk: dream or reality? 17.05.2023

The prospects for the development of tourism in the Ust-Bolsheretsk municipality, attracting investors to the creation of its modern infrastructure, the development of new excursion programs for Russian and foreign guests were discussed at the meeting of the General Director of the Kamchatka Development Corporation and ERDC Marina Yakutova with the head of the municipality Kirill Volkov.

During the meeting, it was noted that Ust-Bolsheretsk area has a huge potential for the development of ecological tourism, interesting excursion programs for a wide range of guests. Many natural monuments are situated there. The area, which is located in the south-west of Kamchatka, is associated with many bright pages of the history of the peninsula. From here the Kamchatka expeditions of Vitus Bering and Alexey Chirikov began. Here, in July 1904, the militiamen of the peninsula defeated the Japanese landing force landed on the peninsula…

Kirill Volkov said that recently the municipality administration, relying on entrepreneurs engaged in the extraction and processing of biological resources and environmental activists, has launched a fight against poaching, freeing up space for legal amateur fishing. The richness of local reservoirs and their wide species composition will allow organizing special tours for guests of the peninsula with guaranteed results of river and sea fishing.

According to Marina Yakutova, the natural and historical potential for tourism development in the area is obvious. The territory has already attracted the attention of investors who have successful experience in implementing infrastructure tourism projects and have the necessary resources. Blue Lagoon LLC is starting the construction of the tourist base in the area. Other similar projects are planned for implementation. But they are still turn-based. We also need a broad program of tourism development in the area. We agreed on its joint development with the head of the municipality. The program, for example, may include a local sea cruise from the regional center to Ust-Bolsheretsk with a visit to several points on the east and west coasts of Kamchatka, with a possible visit of the islands of the Kuril Ridge Shumshu and Paramushir. A cruise shipbuilding program is being implemented in Russia. Kamchatka with correctly planned projects has every chance to become a part of this program, which provides for the ships to leasing.
